For over two decades, Fernando Marron has been working at the intersection of cinema and visual journalism, putting craft at the service of stories that reveal the tensions and contradictions of our times. Based in São Paulo, and working across Brazil and Latin America, his work as a director of photography spans fiction, documentary and television — with international broadcasters and platforms including Discovery Channel, Globo and ARTE, among others. Notable projects include the Globoplay documentary series “Flordelis, Questiona ou Adora”, and “Arrastados”, about the Brumadinho dam disaster, due for release in January 2027.

As a journalist experienced in navigating complex territories, he has maintained a long-standing collaboration with Agence France-Presse (AFP) since 2018, covering Brazil’s most defining moments — elections, the pandemic, land conflicts, social upheaval.

Earlier in his career, he spent eight years as a film producer, working on advertising, documentaries and feature films — among them “Senna”, Asif Kapadia’s Sundance award-winning documentary, on which he served as production manager.

This unusual set of experiences leaves him uniquely well suited to find, frame and deliver stories that demand both technical precision and a deep understanding of the world they come from.
